Planning Aid Scotland offers community councillors training on the planning system

Who is it for?
All Community Councillors currently, or wishing to get, involved in Scotland’s planning system.
Why should I go?
• learn about the changes brought about by the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006

How will the day run?
Using presentation and workshop format, each presentation will be followed by an opportunity for questions
and a structured workshop session, with lunch and refreshments provided. The training will include:
• The development planning and development management processes - changes brought about by
planning reform and where Community Councils can get involved
• Importance of e-planning
• The role of stakeholders
• Effective engagement - PAN 3/2010 and PAN 47, and the role of Planning Aid for Scotland’s Practical
Guide to Community Involvement in Planning: SP=EED (Scottish Planning Effective Engagement and
Delivery)
• Participatory workshops including mock planning exercises, Local Development Plan input, Community
Council role and responsibilities
